What is Parent-2-Child?

Parent-2-Child Training is a practical solution that offers 10 hours of weekly classroom instruction for the child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and parents using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The training is offered in 9 week sessions and then repeated. Children and parents continue to go through the 9 week sessions until their child transitions, at age 3. The training provides 25 hours of support each week including:

Why participate?
Twenty-five hours of behavioral intervention is the recommended standard for children with ASD, according to the most recent recommendation by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Parent-2-Child provides this level of support and parents learn the skills to provide intervention on a daily basis. Parents can take advantage of the many hours they already spend with their child to provide intensive treatment that continues outside the classroom. Children learn the skills to address the fundamental challenges of autism within their normal activities, so skills are easily generalized. Together, parents and children deepen their relationships and connect with other children and families.

Who do I contact?
Please contact Nancy Dowey, at or 459-2773, to learn more about the program or enroll. All daily training sessions are held at Gateways, at 144 Canal Street, Nashua. Sessions run Monday through Thursday from 9-10:15 and 10:15-11:30 a.m. The Children's Playgroup and Parent Session take place Friday from 9-10:30 a.m.

"Research shows that parent training interventions can be successful for children with autism. Parents and children will benefit long after participation in the program is complete."
