Live in a safe and comfortable home licensed by the state in your own community.
If you or your parents are elderly and chronically ill, you may be considering ways to continue to live in the community and get help with your everyday needs. Living in the home of a paid caregiver can be an excellent and cost effective alternative to nursing home or assisted living. Through the Adult Family Care Program, you can receive personal care, supervision, community access, care management and other services while living in a safe and comfortable environment in the Greater Nashua Area.
Adult Family Care is a residential services option for individuals who are elderly or chronically ill and need assistance with their daily activities. Each will live in a licensed or certified private home in the community, where a provider, a couple or a family will care for them.
To be certain that each placement is the right one for both the client and the provider, Gateways Community Services screens, matches and places each client according to their needs. We also provide ongoing supervision and care management to the provider.
Each Caregiver is carefully screened. Criminal records for each member of the household are checked. Each will have a driver’s license, good driving record, auto insurance and registered car. Additionally all members of the household will have had a tuberculosis test, and their references will have been carefully checked.
While this program is not the answer for everyone, it will bring relief to many planning for the care an older or disabled relative and gives many elders an alternative to moving to a nursing home. To check your eligibility for the Adult Family Care Program, please contact Gateways Community Services.
